Tomorrow’s New Year and it’s time to say goodbye to 2018! Have you got your New Year’s Resolution ready yet? If not, you can still do it now.
So, why should we have a New Year’s Resolution anyway? Why is it so important? Well, for a start, a resolution could help us improve ourselves. As humans, our brains are highly capable of analyzing. Rather than focusing too much on questioning about how things are not going as planned, wouldn’t it be logical and more fruitful to look at ourselves and reflect upon our mistakes? Not to mention the long what-I-should-fix-in-me lists!
“How few there are who have courage enough to own their faults, or resolution enough to mend them.”- Benjamin Franklin
New Year’s Resolutions has been said to remind us of who we are. Many believed so. We could also learn how to let go of the things or people who have been toxic in our lives. Not to mention overcoming our fears and bad habits!
“Our greatest human adventure is the evolution of consciousness. We are in this life to enlarge the soul, liberate the spirit, and light up the brain.”- Tom Robbins
Making a resolution is not really hard. First, try to lists the things that we really want to achieve. The things that we should consider may include our determination to live a healthier life, have better financial management, making time for loved ones, and improve the way we style ourselves or even exploring more hobbies and yet-to-be-identified talents!
Next, put a timeline or set a practical and logical frequency to the list. For example, drinking 5 glasses of water a day, read 5 pages a day, donate to the needy once a month or spending 20 minutes for exercise every week.

Start with a small aim
Make it small so that we can achieve it and become more encouraged for bigger improvements.
Write or type the resolutions
Yes! Write or type them and paste the list somewhere we can see every day! That way, we will always be reminded by it and perform better.
Keep track of our own progress
Since everything nowadays is app-based, we can easily track our progress. Self-monitoring is one of the crucial steps that we need to take into account.
Don’t forget to pat ourselves at the back and reward ourselves when we achieve something. It’ll help us to stay focused!
Acknowledge and accept any failures
As humans, weakness is also our middle name. If we failed to achieve something or broke the promise we’ve made with ourselves, it’s okay. Don’t blame ourselves too much and don’t put hate into it. Acknowledge and accept the problem. Learn from it and keep persevering! Never stop trying!
Lastly, the whole point of making the resolutions is for us to become a better person each day. AND it’s a never-ending journey for sure.
