Wafer Baklava at London’s Babaji Pide

Wafer dessert with a Turkish twist!

Written by

We stumbled upon this interesting modern take on the traditional Turkish baklava- a Kağit Helva, which literally means ‘Paper Helva’, and costs £5.00.

According to Halal Girl About Town, this scrumptious dessert was devoured immediately by she and her friends. “Sweet, creamy vanilla ice cream had been sandwiched between two gooey, yet crispy, wafers and dipped in crushed pistachios. There was nothing authentic about the dish but we enjoyed the sweet ending to our meal!”

The halal status of this restaurant is also confirmed by the manager on all the meat, thanks to the detective skills of Halal Girl About Town.

This dessert also seems easy to make if you have all these ingredients:
1. Wafer Biscuits
2. Vanilla ice cream
3. Crushed pistachios

Otherwise, if you happen to be in London, you can get this at:
